What's keeping you from true transformation?
When products get in the way of living the internal life you crave.
If you’re someone who’s chasing real change—and trying to feel good doing it—this might sound familiar.
Maybe you’ve got habits that still make you cringe. You’re always trying to override them, or work around them. Sometimes you hide them. People around you think you have it together. You’re the example. But it’s not enough for you.
You’re chasing something bigger. Maybe it’s happiness. Maybe it’s purpose. You set goals, but when you reach them, they don’t hit like you thought they would. You might even feel emptier than before.
So you reach for something: Clothing. Makeup. Vitamins. Powders. Drinks. Snacks. Trips. Toys. Even a new water bottle.
You’re not alone. We've all done it. But when does consumption shift from support to distraction? When does it block you from the internal life you're actually craving?
Here are a few check-in points before you buy or reach:
🔹 You're emotionally dysregulated.
Your body’s in survival mode. Reaching for something external feels like safety.
Question: What helps you feel grounded that doesn’t involve spending?
🔹 Your basic needs aren’t met.
You might just need real food, water, rest, sunlight, or human connection.
Try checking in with this acronym HALT: Are you Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired?
🔹 You’ve promised yourself to stop—but you don’t.
This could be about more than willpower. If you’re constantly bargaining with yourself, maybe this behavior once helped you cope, but now it’s getting in the way. Facing that isn’t easy but it’s where the work begins.
🔹 You don’t like being with yourself.
If products are the only way you feel joy or calm, the real issue may not be what you’re consuming, but what you’re avoiding. There is a way back to yourself that doesn’t require a purchase. That path may be uncomfortable, but it leads to self-respect, not shame.
You might be saying, So what? We all buy stuff, and here you are telling me what’s okay—and you make products for a living!
Totally justified. Believe me, there are days when I think, The last thing the world needs right now is another product.
Here I am in a privileged place with everything I need: sipping coffee, eating a nutritious breakfast, writing on my laptop in a safe home with clean air and water. My family is healthy. I slept well. Birds are singing outside. These things do alter my mood, and I will never take any of it for granted.
There was a time in my life when I was on my knees, desperate for everything to change. The last place I wanted to go was inside myself. I couldn’t bear silence because it would lead me to my thoughts. I couldn’t sit still because it would tune me into the chaos of my inner world. I couldn’t sleep in darkness because I was terrified of the outer world too.
What I know is this:
The path of perfection will be an unhappy journey.
The path of avoidance will feel empty.
True change starts from within.
I am still a big fan of products with purpose - crafted with integrity, transparency, and even love.
Just for today, I am choosing faith over fear, and progress, not perfection.

Great article much needed for these times. The birds chirping in the morning; it's like they're saying, 'you're going to have a good day.'
